A jump host concentrates administrative entry
A jump host means administrative access goes through one controlled, monitored door instead of many.
The benefit is that you can watch, record and restrict one path properly. The risk is obvious and worth stating: you have also built a single place where compromising one machine yields access to everything behind it. It is a good design that requires the jump host to be the best-protected system you own.
