Debug interfaces are production interfaces if accessible
The port left on the board for development is a way in if anybody can reach it.
They frequently bypass authentication entirely, because during development that is convenient. Shipping without disabling or physically protecting them means every deployed unit carries a maintenance hatch. It is one of the most consistent findings in embedded security testing.
