Decision thresholds
A metric becomes useful the moment somebody says in advance what value would make them act.
Without that, every reading is discussed and nothing follows. With it, the number either crosses the line or it does not, and the argument happens once when the threshold is set rather than monthly when the figure is presented. It also reveals metrics nobody would ever act on, which can then be removed.
