Digital signatures provide integrity, not secrecy

A signed document is still readable by everybody.

Signing and encrypting are separate operations answering separate questions: has this been altered and who produced it, versus who can read it. They get conflated constantly, including in product descriptions, and the practical consequence is people believing signed data is confidential.
