Forward secrecy
Forward secrecy means that recording today's traffic does not help somebody who obtains the long-term key later.
Each session uses its own temporary key which is discarded afterwards, so the long-term key cannot decrypt past conversations. It directly counters the harvest-now-decrypt-later approach, and it is why modern protocol versions made it the default rather than an option.
