'password sticky notes are always bad'

A long unique password written down and kept somewhere physically safe can be better than a weak memorable one reused everywhere.

The advice became dogma without the reasoning. The threat to a note in a locked drawer at home is quite different from the threat to a password appearing in a breach database. Context decides. A note stuck to a monitor in an open office is a different matter entirely.
