Chaos engineering

Deliberately breaking things under controlled conditions surfaces the dependencies nobody documented.

The value is not the breaking, it is discovering what else stopped working. Teams consistently find that something they considered optional is load-bearing. Doing it deliberately, in daylight, with people watching, is considerably cheaper than the unplanned version at three in the morning.
