Continuous evaluation means decisions can change
Checking once at login means a device that becomes non-compliant an hour later keeps its access all day.
Continuous evaluation reassesses as signals change, so a revoked account, a failed compliance check or a login from somewhere impossible can end the session rather than being noticed tomorrow. It is what makes access a current judgement rather than a decision made once and honoured indefinitely.
More on Zero trust
- Zero trust removes implicit trust in network position, not confidence in colleaguesIt was never about the people
- Policy enforcement depends on reliable identity signalsRight rule, smudged label
- Zero trust does not remove network controlsKeep the fence
- Service-to-service traffic needs identity tooMachines need names too
- Device trust should match what is actually measuredOnly what the probe touched
- Policy engines create critical dependenciesOne box, every door
