Multi-region is not the same as multi-provider
A second region protects you from a regional failure. It does not protect you from the provider.
Account-level problems, control plane failures, billing suspensions and compromised credentials all follow you across regions, because they are properties of the account rather than the location. Knowing which failure you are buying protection against is what decides whether another region is sufficient.
