Right to audit

An audit right that is never exercised is a clause, not a control.

It appears in almost every contract and is used almost never, because exercising it costs money and goodwill. That is a legitimate commercial decision and it means the assurance you believe you have is theoretical. Either plan to use it on the suppliers that matter, or stop counting it.
