Standardising on fewer suppliers simplifies operations and concentrates the consequence of any one of them failing.

It is a real trade rather than an obvious answer. Fewer relationships means better oversight of each, and it means a single incident affects everything at once. The version that goes wrong is concentrating without noticing, through gradual consolidation rather than a decision.
