Children's online safety

The practical security question in a family is not which app to worry about. It is who is signed in on what.

Shared devices and shared accounts are where things actually go wrong, because one signed-in session usually reaches everything: the email, the app store, the saved card, the photo library. A child using a parent's logged-in tablet is not "using a tablet", they are using that parent's accounts. Separate profiles and separate logins solve a surprising amount of it. The wider questions about what children should see and do online are worth taking seriously, and the specialist charities are better placed to answer them than a security sketch.
