'Macs do not get malware'

Macs get malware. So do iPhones, and so does Linux. The belief that they do not is a hangover from when they were rare enough not to be worth an attacker's time.

Apple does build in real protections, and the overall risk genuinely is different from a Windows machine, but different is not the same as absent. The practical danger of believing otherwise is that it removes the ordinary caution you would apply anywhere else: the download from a search result, the pop-up saying your machine is infected, the app from outside the store. Platform choice changes the shape of your risk. It does not remove it.
